Privacy Policy

kooo (“kooo”, “we”, “us”) is a group-chat product where people talk in shared rooms and can bring an AI assistant into the conversation by mentioning @AI. This policy explains what we collect and how we handle it. We keep it short on purpose.

What we collect

• Account (optional): if you sign in, your email address. Most usage needs no account — you can join with just a nickname.
• Messages & rooms: the text you send, room membership, and AI replies, so the chat works for everyone in the room.
• Attachments: images/files you choose to upload.
• Basic usage & device data: standard logs (e.g. approximate region, browser type) for reliability and abuse prevention.
• Billing: if you subscribe, payment is handled by our payment processors. We do not store your card number.

How we use it

• To run the chat and deliver AI replies you request.
• To keep the service secure and prevent abuse.
• To process subscriptions and support requests.

We do not sell your data, and we do not use your conversations to train AI models.

AI processing & sub-processors

When you use the AI, the relevant messages are sent to our AI providers to generate a reply. We use trusted third parties only as needed to run the service:

• AI models: Anthropic (Claude) and DeepSeek.
• Hosting & database: Vercel and Supabase.
• Payments: Polar, Apple App Store, and our payment processor.
• Email delivery: for sign-in codes and notifications.

Data retention

Unsaved rooms and their messages are automatically deleted after 7 days. Rooms you explicitly save are kept until you delete them. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

Your choices

• Access or delete your data — email us and we'll action it.
• Use kooo anonymously (no account) for most features.

Children

kooo is not directed to children under the minimum age stated in our Terms. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
